The creator and artistic director of Bif&st Felice Laudadio has announced the titles of the films made with the support of Rai Cinema and distributed by 01 Distribution which, in the Petruzzelli Theatre, will open and close the Bari International Film Festival, scheduled from September 25 to October 2, 2021. The inaugural film will be “Il materiale emotivo” (A Bookshop in Paris) directed by Sergio Castellitto, played by Castellitto himself, by Bérénice Bejo and by Matilda De Angelis, based on the story by Ettore Scola “A dragon in the shape of a cloud”, with the screenplay by Ettore Scola, Furio Scarpelli, Silvia Scola, Sergio Castellitto, written by Margaret Mazzantini. The film is an Italy-France production, produced by Rodeo Drive with Rai Cinema, Tikkun Production and Mon Voisin Productions. The closing film on October 2 will be “Marilyn ha gli occhi neri”, directed by Simone Godano and produced by Matteo Rovere’s Groenlandia with Rai Cinema, starring Stefano Accorsi and Miriam Leone. Bif&st 2021 will have a common thread linked to Ettore Scola 90 years after his birth and 5 years after his death, with the preview presentation on October 2 at the Petruzzelli of the number of the historic film magazine “Bianco e Nero”, entirely dedicated to him, after the screening of his film “La Terrazza” in the edition restored by the Cineteca Nazionale. Also, the Ettore Scola Award – for many years president of Bif&st – will be conferred to the best unreleased Italian film of the ItaliaFilmFest section hosted in the Piccinni Theatre. The other Bari theatres involved in the festival will be the newly restored Kursaal Theatre and the Margherita Theatre which will host the press conferences of all the selected films and the traditional Focus. Bif&st – placed under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and chaired by film director Margarethe von Trotta – is promoted and financed by the Puglia Region-Department of Culture, the Apulia Film Commission Foundation and the Ministry of Culture with the collaboration of the Municipality of Bari .
